CLARION TO OPEN HOME SEASON AGAINST LOCK HAVEN

The Clarion University women’s volleyball team will open its home season at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 24) at Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium against PSAC-West rival Lock Haven.

The Golden Eagles (9-1 overall, 1-1 PSAC-West) lost their first match of the season 3-0 at IUP Saturday. The nine straight wins to open the season was a school-best start.

Lock Haven, meanwhile, is 1-10 on the season and 0-2 in the PSAC-West. The Bald Eagles lost 3-0 to Edinboro Saturday.

Junior outside hitter Melanie Bull (118 kills, 23 service aces, 114 digs), junior setter Jackie Hill (349 set assists, 78 digs, 15 service aces), senior middle hitter Beth Stalder (83 kills, 31 blocks), sophomore outside hitter Tonya Zatko (80 kills, 34 blocks), sophomore middle hitter Colleen Sherk (63 kills, 49 blocks), sophomore outside hitter Sara Heyl (65 kills, 60 digs) and junior Libero Laurie Hepler (120 digs) pace Clarion.
