CLARION DEFEATS LOCK HAVEN 3-0 IN PSAC-WEST HOME OPENER
CLARION -- Clarion University's women's
volleyball team defeated Lock Haven 3-0 Tuesday night in the home opener at
Tippin Gymnasium. It was the Golden Eagles first win over Lock Haven since
1997.
Clarion won by scores of 30-20, 30-25 and 30-21 to improve
its record to 10-1 overall and 2-1 PSAC-West.
Melanie Bull had 13 kills and 16 digs to lead the Golden
Eagles, while Jackie Hill had 45 set assists. Sara Heyl chipped in with 12
kills and five digs, and Laurie Hepler had 12 digs. Beth Stalder added 10
kills.
"It is always nice to get a win in the first home match,"
Clarion's second-year head coach Tracey Fluharty said. "The players really
stepped up tonight and played well. It is also nice to beat Lock Haven
considering our recent history with them. Hopefully this is just a start."
Clarion returns to action Friday and Saturday when it
travels to California for a PSAC Cross-over weekend. The Golden Eagles will
face three teams from the PSAC-East
