CLARION ROLLS TO 3-0 RECORD IN PSAC CROSSOVER WEEKEND
CALIFORNIA -- The Clarion University women's
volleyball team continued to roll this past weekend sweeping three matches
from PSAC-East foes during PSAC Crossover play at California.
On Friday night the Golden Eagles beat Kutztown
3-0 (30-27, 30-21, 30-19). Then on Saturday morning Clarion topped
Shippensburg 3-0 (30-17, 30-14, 30-24). Saturday afternoon saw the Golden
Eagles drop West Chester 3-0 (30-24, 30-21, 30-25).
The three wins uped Clarion's record to 13-1, a
school-record start. The Golden Eagles are also 11-0 against non-conference
foes including 3-0 vs. the PSAC-East.
Melanie Bull led the Golden Eagle attack with 39
kills and 38 digs in the three matches, while Colleen Sherk added 22 kills and
12 blocks. Tonya Zatko chipped in with 24 kills and seven blocks, Beth Stalder
had 19 kills, nine digs and four blocks and Sara Heyl had 19 kills and 19
digs.
Jackie Hill once again set up the offense with 109
set assists in the three matches, while Laurie Hepler contributed 37 digs on
the defensive end.
Clarion returns to Tippin Gym Tuesday when it
hosts Slippery Rock at 7 p.m.
