CLARION’S MELANIE BULL SETS TWO SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL RECORDS
In the past week, Clarion University junior outside hitter Melanie Bull (York/Susquehanna) set two school records – career digs and single-season kills.
The first record Bull set was the career digs mark. She set the mark against Mt. Olive Nov. 3. Through the end of the regular season Nov.9, Bull has 1,463 career digs nearly a hundred better than the previous record of 1,382 set by Ali Graham from 1998-01.
The second record Bull set this past week was the single-season kills mark. With 18 kills in Clarion’s regular-season finale, a 3-1 win over Edinboro, Bull now has 528 kills this season breaking the previous mark of 522 set by Jodi Pezek in 1990.
Bull is one of the main reasons Clarion is enjoying one of the most successful seasons in school history. At 31-4 overall and 7-3 PSAC-West the Golden Eagles have set a school-record for wins in a season. Clarion has had a very good chance at going to the NCAA Division II Regional Playoffs for the first time in school history.
Bull leads the team in kills (528), digs (563) and service aces (62) this season.
NOTES: Bull’s latest two school records mean she now holds three school records. Last season she set the single-season mark for digs with 602 … Bull is also closing in on the school record in kills. She has 1,322 career kills and trails Pezek, the record-holder with 1,444, by 122 … Also with her 62 service aces this season Bull is tied for sixth in school history in a single season with Wendy Ellenberger (1992) and is one back of Suzann Seanor (1984) for 5th in school history.
