A talented, enthusiastic coach and All-American performer, Jayson Resch is in his first year as Interim head coach for the Clarion University men’s and women’s track and field and cross country teams. Resch, who took over the top post in August 2006, led the Golden Eagles cross country teams quality finishes at the PSAC’s this past fall. His men’s team finished a school-best third, while the women’s team was seventh. A volunteer assistant coach at Clarion from 2004-2006, Resch returned to his second alma maters’ campus in August after a brief stint as the assistant boys’ track and field coach at Barnegat High School in Barnegat, NJ. Prior to coming to Clarion in 2004, Resch served six years as an officer in the United States Army serving tours in both Qatar and Korea while earning the rank of Captain. He was a member of the All-Army Track and Field team in 2001. A native of West Creek, N.J., Resch and attended both Lacey Township and Pinelands Regional high schools graduating from Pinelands in 1995. He lettered 4 times in both cross country and outdoor track and field and three times in indoor track and field. He was a member of the South Jersey Group II state champion cross country team and the Group II state championship distance medley relay team at Pinelands while qualifying for the Penn Relays in the 4x800 relay and the state group outdoor track and field championships three events. Resch went on to attend Richard Stockton College in Pomona, N.J., graduating in 1999 with a degree in Criminal Justice. While at Richard Stockton, he was an NCAA Division III All-American in the 400 while winning the New Jersey State Athletic Conference championship in the 400 and 800. He competed for four years in both cross country and track and field. Graduating from Clarion in May 2006 with a degree in Secondary Education/Social Studies, Resch become a U.S.A. Track and Field Level I certified coach in July 2006. Jayson resides in Clarion. |
