RICHARD, URBAN PACED CLARION WOMEN TO SCHOOL-BEST 6TH PLACE FINISH
AT PSAC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Paced by Erin Richard and Holly Urban Clarion finished a school-best sixth at the 2006 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held Saturday and Sunday at East Stroudsburg.
Richard had a hand in 28 of Clarion’s 58 points in the meet, while Urban had a hand in 18 tallies.
Richard won the PSAC Championship in the 3,000-meter run (10:08.57) and as a part of the Distance Medley Relay Team (12:16.14) and took second in the Mile (5:07.69).
Urban was a member of the PSAC Championship DMR while also placing second in the 800-meter run (2:19.19).
Joining Richard and Urban on the PSAC Title winning DMR were Keisha Perry and Amanda Maholtz.
Tasha Wheatley added 10 points for the Golden Eagles with a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:10.70) and a seventh-place ending in the 3,000 meters (10:34.26), while Diane Kress scored nine points thanks to finishing third in the Triple Jump (37-7) and sixth in the Pentathlon (2,878 points).
Katie Jarzab rounded out the scoring for Clarion with by scoring three points with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000 (18:26.77).
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES – The sixth-place finish tops the previous school best of 7th in 2003 … Clarion is coached by second-year head coach Daniel Caulfield … Kutztown won the meet with 111 points followed bye Slippery Rock (92), IUP 89, Lock Haven (77), Shippensburg 67.5) and Clarion … Lahnor Ridley of IUP was named Outstanding Field Athlete while Michelle Kelly of Edinboro was Outstanding Track Athlete.
