CLARK SCORES SEVEN POINTS AS CLARION FINISHES 12TH AT THE PSAC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Chris Clark scored seven of Clarion’s 11 points, as the Golden Eagles finished in 12th place at the 2006 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held Saturday and Sunday at East Stroudsburg.
Clark finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run (8:36.43) and seventh in the 5,000-meter run (15:15.55).
Jarrett Williams had a hand in the other four points for Clarion by taking sixth in the 55-meter dash (6.56) and running a leg on Clarion’s eighth-place 4x400-meter relay team (3:30.62).
Joining Williams on the relay were Zach Shekell, Marc Simbeck and Dan Patton.
The point in the relay was unexpected considering Clarion was seeded 10th in the 10-team event nearly 14 seconds behind the 8th place seed with the Top 8 scoring. But the Golden Eagles took advantage of Millersville being disqualified and California not finishing to earn the point. Clarion’s time was nearly 10 seconds faster than its seeded time.
NOTES – Shippensburg won the meet with 144 points with Lock Haven (115), Kutztown (92), Slippery Rock (87) and East Stroudsburg (56) rounding out the Top 5 … West Chester’s Eric Broadbent was named Outstanding Field Athlete, while Lock Haven’s Ryan Blood was the Outstanding Track Athlete.
