DANIEL CAULFIELD - Head Coach
Daniel Caulfield, an experienced and
knowledgeable cross country and track coach, is in his 2nd season coaching the
track team and 1st coaching the cross country team at Clarion. In 2005,
Caulfield coached Clarion’s first Decathlon All-American and two NCAA qualifiers
while leading the women’s track team to 12th place finishes at both the PSAC
indoor and outdoor meets and the men’s team to a 12th place standing in the
indoor meet.
Caulfield came to Clarion from Adams
State College in Alamosa, Colorado where he was an assistant cross country and
track and field coach from 1998-2004. Adam State captured four women’s (2004,
03, 1999, 98) and two men’s (2003, 1998) NCAA D-II Cross Country national
championships. In track, the men’s team was third and the women second at the
2004 national championships.
A native of Roscommon, Ireland,
Caulfield graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx, NY in 1991
before moving on to Adams State College from 1991-95 where he was a 10-time
All-American and a 4-time National Champion. A member of the Adams State 1993
and 1994 NCAA D-II national championship cross country teams, he is the Adams
State and RMAC Conference record holder in the 800m. He completed his bachelor’s
degree in May of 1995 in Exercise Physiology and returned to Ireland to work as
an exercise physiology lab technician in Dublin. Returning to Adams State in the
Fall of 1998 as a G.A. coach, he received his M.A. in Health, Physical Education
and Recreation in 1999.
A proven competitor internationally,
Caulfield placed 8th in the 2001 World Indoor Championships and 18th in the 2001
World Outdoor Championships in the 800 for Ireland. He is the Irish National
Record Holder in the indoor 800 (1:47.21), was a 2-time European Cup champion in
the 800 and 1,500 (1995, 2004) and was a 2-time Millrose Games runner-up. He
held a top 50 IAAF World Rankin in 2001.

Caulfield of Roscommon, Ireland.
