EAGLES RICHARD, CLARK COMPETE AT NCAA TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS Clarion University Erin Richard and Chris Clark both competed at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Emporia State (Kansas). Richard finished ninth in the women’s 3,000 in a time of 10:22.37 just missing an All-America finish. She had qualified for the finals in the 3,000 with a trial heat time of 10:14.03, which was the eighth best qualifying time. Richard then finished 14^th in the 5,000 but didn’t qualify for the finals in the event. Clark, meanwhile, was 12^th in the men’s 5,000 running a time of 15:37.99. He qualified for the finals in a time of 14:58.67, which was the 12^th best qualifying time. Clark also finished 14^th in the 10,000 in a time of 31:45.05. *GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES –* Richard was the PSAC Champion in both the 1,500 and 3,000 this year and is believed to be the first Clarion women’s track and field athlete to win at least two PSAC individual titles in the same season. She set school records in the 1,500 (4:37.20), 3,000 (9:59.56) and 5,000 (17:06.01) this season. Richard was also the PSAC Indoor Champion in the 3,000 while running a leg of the PSAC Champion Distance Medley Relay team indoors. She finished second in the mile at the PSAC Indoor Championships. In cross country in the fall, Richard finished 20^th a both PSAC’s and NCAA Regionals … Clark finished third at the PSAC’s this season while also setting school records in both the 5,000 (14:32.37) and 10,000 (30:23.50). He was fourth in the PSAC Indoor 3,000 and seventh in the Indoor 5,000 in February while earning All-PSAC honors in cross country with a 10^th place finish. He is the first Top 10 finisher at PSAC Cross Country for the Clarion’s men’s team since 1986 and the first men’s athlete from Clarion to earn All-PSAC honors since 1999 … Both Clark and Richard are Clarion and PSAC Scholar-Athletes as well as United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association Coaches Association All-Academic Team members … Clarion’s women were 9^th and the men 13^th at the PSAC Championships this year.
