WHEATLEY'S NCAA PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING TIME LEADS CLARION AT MT. SAC RELAYS |

WALNUT, Calif. – Led by Tasha Wheatley’s NCAA Division II provisional qualifying run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Clarion University had four athletes run well at the Mt. San Antonio Community College (Mt. SAC) Relays Thursday in Walnut, Calif. Wheatley’s time of 11:26.03, a top 20 time nationally and the second fastest time in the PSAC this season. She finished 21st in the race but second among NCAA Division II runners. The remainder of the runners ahead of her were either from Division I schools or club teams. Wheatley wasn’t the only Golden Eagle to have an outstanding race Thursday, as junior Holly Urban (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) ran the fastest time in the PSAC this is year in the 800 (2:16.26). She finished 28th but like Wheatley was mainly behind Division I runners. Also competing for Clarion against mainly Division I competition were Erin Richard (Erie/McDowell) and Chris Clark (Hadley/Commodore Perry). Richard finished 21st in the women’s 5,000 in a time of 19:03.99, while Clark was 18th in the men’s 5,000 in a time of 15:55.06. The Golden Eagles continue their California trip Friday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational and Saturday at the Soka University Twilight Invitational.
