BEVEVINO SETS THREE CLARION INDOOR TRACK RECORDS
NINE RECORDS BROKEN IN ALL AT KENT STATE
Ben Bevevino (Clarion/Clarion) broke three Clarion University Indoor Track and Field records Saturday at the Kent State Invitational, and nine record in all were broken by Golden Eagle athletes on the day.
Bevevino set new marks in the men’s 55-meter hurdles (8.25), the men’s 300-meter hurdles (43.46) and the men’s long jump (21-6.25).
Diane Kress (Pittsburgh/North Hills) set two women’s records including the 55-meter hurdles (9.18) and the triple jump (37-3).
Chris Clark (Hadley/Commodore Perry – men’s 5,000-meter run: 15:00.34), Erin Richard (Erie/McDowell – women’s one-mile run: 5:09.10), Sean McFarland (Macungie/Upper Perkiomen – men’s one-mile run: 4:26.87) and Holly Urban (Doylestown/Central Bucks East – women’s 800-meter run: 2:14.23) also set records.
It was a pretty good day all-around for Clarion which also saw three new PSAC Indoor qualifiers, one new provisional NCAA qualifier and nine top PSAC performers at Kent State.
Bevevino qualified for the PSAC’s in both the long jump and 55 hurdles, Travis Cyphert (Summerville/Clarion-Limestone) qualified in the men’s 5,000-meter run while McFarland reached qualifying standards in the mile.
Urban’s time in the 800 meters is an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark and the 12th best time in the nation meaning she has a chance to make the cut for nationals. The time is also the best time in the event in the PSAC this year.
Additional athletes putting in PSAC best times for the season include Richard in the 5,000 and the women’s Distance Medley Relay team.
Clarion returns to action Saturday and Sunday at the PSAC Indoor Championships at East Stroudsburg.
