CLARION HAS 19 PSAC QUALIFIERS THROUGH MAY 2

            The Clarion University men’s and women’s track and field teams have a total of 19 PSAC qualifiers through May 2, according to head coach Pat Mooney. The PSAC track and field championships will be held May 13-15 at Slippery Rock.

            There are 14 individual qualifiers on the women’s team and one relay and three individual qualifiers on the men’s team and one relay.

            Two athletes Jen Boerner (Sr., Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) and Melissa Terwilliger (Jr., Blasdell, NY/Frontier) have qualified in three events on the women’s team.

            Boerner has qualified in the 800 (2:24.63), the 1,500 (4:50.90) and the 3,000 (10:41.03), while Terwilliger has qualified in the 3,000 (10:28.80), the 5,000 (17:45.00) and the 10,000 (36:11.98). Last season Boerner placed third in the 1,500 at the PSAC’s, while Terwilliger was fifth in the nation in the 10,000 last year and third in the PSAC in both the 3,000 and 5,000.

            Sarah Rodgers (Jr., Chicora/Moniteau) has qualified in for two events so far earning spots in the 800 (2:24.20) and the 1,500 (5:03.70).

            Solo qualifiers so far include Katie Jarzab (So., Oil City/Oil City) in the 5,000 (18:41.33), Bridget Sardo (So., Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) in the 3,000 (11:51.29), Melissa Harkins (Jr., Altoona/Altoona) in the 3,000 (11:57.05), Carrie Bullman (Sr., Chicora/Karns City) in the javelin (142-3), Julie Evenoski (Sr., New Castle/Neshannock) in the javelin (134-11), Jessica Crouch (Sr., Saxonburg/Knoch) in the javelin (131-4), Jen Klock (Sr., Whitehall/Whitehall) in the shot put (43-8 ½), Holly Urban (Fr., Doyelstown/Central Bucks East) in the 800 (2:21.21), Nikki Plassio (So., Irwin/Hempfield) in the high jump (5-1), Lacy Silvis (Fr., Shelocta/Indiana) in the pole vault (8-9) and Erin Jones (Fr. Wattsburg/Seneca) in the pole vault (9-0).

            The Golden Eagles 1,600-meter relay team has also qualified for the PSAC’s in a time of 4:20.69. The squad qualifies as a school, and potential members of the team at the PSAC meet include Urban, Susan Despot (So., State College/Bald Eagle Area), Boerner, Rodgers and Carrie Micheau (Kane/Kane).

            The individual qualifiers from the men’s team include David Duriancik (Sr. Vandergrift/Kiski Area) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:32.39), Jarrett Williams (So., Verona/Penn Hills) in the 100 (11.18) and Tim Fabrizi (Sr., Murrysville/Kiski Area) in the 200 (22.79).

            The men’s 1,600-meter relay team has also qualified for the PSAC’s in a time of 3:34.71. The squad qualifies as a school, and potential members of the team at PSAC’s include Williams, Fabrizi, Zac Shekell (Foxburg/A-C Valley), Ben Bevevino (Clarion/Clarion) and BJ Roth (Clarion/Clarion).

            The Golden Eagles have one meet left before the PSAC’s when they travel to Lock Haven Saturday.
