Clarion University sophomore Melissa Terwilliger (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) finished fifth in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships Thursday at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

Terwilliger finished in a school-record time of 35:57.99. She broke her own record of 36:39.71 and finished 35 seconds back of the winner Molly Wedel of South Dakota.

GOLDEN EAGLES NOTES: Terwilliger finished third at the PSAC meet in both the 3,000 and 5,000 but did not run the 10,000 at PSAC’s … She holds the school record in the 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 … Two other Golden Eagles are participating in the NCAA meet. Carrie Bullman and Julie Evenoski are both throwing the javelin Saturday … Terwilliger’s fifth-place finish put Clarion in eighth place after on day with four points with the majority of the events to be held Friday and Saturday.
