SHOEMAKER SETS TWO CLARION TRACK RECORDS

Senior Kristie Shoemaker (Beaver Falls/Blackhawk) set two Clarion University women’s track and field records this past week.

Last Wednesday, May 1, at Slippery Rock Shoemaker broke the school’s long jump record with a leap of 17-6 3/4. She eclipsed the old mark of 17-3 3/4 set in 1999 by Allison Ochs.

Then Saturday at Lock Haven, Shoemaker set the school triple jump mark with a leap of 38-2 1/4, the best jump in the PSAC so far this season. Her triple jump record broke the old mark of 38-1 set by Miesha Henry in 1999.

Shoemaker, who has qualified for the PSAC’s in the triple jump, long jump and 100-meter dash, is back in action along with the rest of the Golden Eagles at the 2002 PSAC Championship meet starting Thursday, May 9, and lasting through Saturday, May 11, at Kutztown.
