CLARION 5 ST. VINCENT 4

      (CLARION, PA.): The Clarion University Women’s Tennis team ran its Spring record to 5-1 and its overall record to 10-4 with an exciting 5-4 win on Saturday over St. Vincent.

      Held at Campbell Courts in Clarion, the win avenged a 5-4 loss to St. Vincent in the Fall season.

      Clarion opened the day with doubles wins by Lisa Baumgartner & Amy Robertson at #2 and Kassie Leuschel and Brittany Bovalino at #3 to take a 2-1 lead.

      In singles play the Gold Eagles deposited wins by Amy and Megan Robertson at #3 and #4, then Kassie Leuschel clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Sarah Rendulik at #6 singles to post the Clarion win.

      “It was a very exciting match,” said Clarion head coach Lori Sabatose. “We’re looking forward to the coming week and the start of PSAC-West play.”

      Clarion will travel to take on #7 ranked California on Tuesday at 3:30, then return home to host Slippery Rock on Thursday at noon on the Campbell Courts.
