CLARION NETTERS POST 3-0 WEEKEND

            (Kutztown, Pa.): Clarion University’s Women’s Tennis team posted a 3-0 weekend on the road which boosted their Fall 2006 record to 3-1.

            Sunday the Golden Eagles defeated University of the Sciences 6-1 at Kutztown’s Courts, while defeating Kutztown 8-1 on Saturday and West Chester on Friday 8-1 (at West Chester).

            Leading the Golden Eagles over the weekend were Amy Robertson (Jr. York), Megan Robertson (Jr. York) and Brittany Bovalino (Fr. Aliquippa/Hopewell). All three posted 3-0 records in doubles, while both Robertson’s were 3-0 in singles play and Bovalino was 2-0 in singles play. Amy Robertson plays primarily at #4 singles and #2 doubles, while Megan Robertson and Bovalino were partners in the first two doubles matches, with Robertson at #5 singles and Bovalino at #6 singles.

            Clairon’s #1 player Corin Rombach (Jr. Prattsburgh, N.Y.) was 2-0 in doubles, won her first singles match against West Chester’s Jennifer Litchman, and then due to injury, injury defaulted her singles match against Priya Pachkawde of Kutztown after winning the first set 6-1 and tied 5-5 in the second set.

            Lisa Baumgartner (#2 – West Midlesex/Wilmington) was 2-1 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles. Kristen Jack (Sr. Lower Burrell) was 1-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles, while Mary Loveless (Fr. Shiloh, Oh.) was 1-0 in singles and doubles, making her debut against USP on Sunday

            Clarion moves to 3-1 on the season and returns to action on Tuesday when the Golden Eagles host Millersville at Campbell Courts at 4pm.
