CLARION’S FORTNOFF NAMED 2ND TEAM PSAC-WEST

             Clarion University outfielder Lauren Fortnoff (Akron, Ohio/Akron Firestone) is a second-team PSAC-West selection in voting by the league’s coaches.

            Fortnoff had a sensational senior season for the Golden Eagles leading the team with a .383 average and 17 runs scored. She was 41-for-107 as Clarion’s leadoff hitter in every game this season. She has one double and five RBI’s with an on-base percentage of .411. She also stole five bases.

            Fortnoff had 14 multiple-hit games this season including three three-hit games. She was 3-for-4 with an RBI March 11 vs. Merrimack, 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored April 1 at Edinboro in Game Two while going 3-for-4 with an RBI in Game Two at Slippery Rock April 9. April 1 was a good day for the senior, as she went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Game One vs. Edinboro that day.  

            Fortnoff finished her career with a .259 average with 26 runs scored, two doubles, a triple, 10 RBI’s and two stolen bases.

            Clarion went 6-24-1 this season while winning five of its final nine games.

            GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES – This is the third straight season Clarion has had an all-conference player … Last season pitcher April Shannon was a first-team selection, while third baseman Ashley Walker and outfielder Nicole Furnia were second-team choices… Shannon was also a first-team selection in 2003.
