CLARION’S SHERRY NAMED PSAC-WEST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Second straight week Chartiers Valley grad earns award
For the second week in a row, Clarion University freshman guard Mike Sherry (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) is the PSAC-West Rookie of the Week.
Sherry turned in another solid week for the Golden Eagles helping Clarion go 2-0 including an 84-77 win at No. 19 Fairmont State Saturday.
Sherry had a game- and career-high 25 points to lead Clarion to the win at Fairmont State. He shot 8 of 10 from the floor including 7 of 9 from behind the arc and hit two key 3-pointers later including one that gave the Golden Eagles the lead for good. He scored eight of Clarion’s final 14 points helping the Eagles end the game on a 14-7 run.
Sherry added nine points and three steals in Clarion’s 85-48 win at Briarcliffe Wednesday.
On the season, Sherry is averaging 11.4 ppg while helping Clarion to a 4-4 start including three straight wins. He is shooting 47.6 percent from 3-point land (20 of 42).
