CLARION’S SHERRY NAMED PSAC-WEST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

            Clarion University freshman guard Mike Sherry (6-1, 175, Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) was named the PSAC-West Rookie of the Week Tuesday.

            Sherry scored 32 points in three games for the Golden Eagles last week helping Clarion to a 2-1 week. The rookie played a key role in Clarion’s 69-67 double overtime win against Bloomsburg Sunday hitting the game-tying shot with seven seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. He then hit a 3-pointer with 1:07 left in overtime to tie the game again forcing a second overtime. Sherry finished the game with 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. He also scored 13 points against PSU-DuBois to begin the week and is averaging 9.5 points on the season.

            Clarion is 2-4 on the year and returns to action Wednesday at Briarcliffe (NY).
