CLARION CRUISES TO FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON 95-51 OVER PSU-DUBOIS
CLARION – Behind five players in double figures, the Clarion University men’s basketball team cruised to its first win of the season 95-51 over visiting Penn State-DuBois Wednesday night at Tippin Gym.
Damon Gross (Pittsburgh/Westinghouse) led the way with 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Lonnell Jones added 19 points and eight boards for Clarion (1-3). Shameel Carty had 16 points and six rebounds off the bench, Josh Yanke chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds and Mike Sherry (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) had 13 points for the Golden Eagles, who led 44-22 at halftime.
Dylan Howard (Oswayo Valley) led PSU-DuBois (2-4) with 14 points, Kyle Vogt (Cameron County) added 10 points, Jonny Songer (Cameron County) had nine points and five rebounds and Ryan Hritz (Clarion) chipped in with eight tallies and six boards. Dan Ferringer (Keystone) had two points and two blocked shots, and Kevin Genevro (Elk County Catholic) had five points and seven assists.
Clarion returns to action at 3 p.m. Saturday vs. Mansfield and at 3 p.m. Sunday vs. Bloomsburg.
