CLARION BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES “TAKE A KID TO THE GAME” PROMO

Clarion hosts a basketball doubleheader this Saturday afternoon (Feb. 10th) against Shippensburg University on a day that will also be known as “Take A Kid To The Game” Day at Clarion University.

Part of an NCAA promotional series that is in its 12th year, the “Take a Kid To The Game” promotion is meant to get kids involved in and enjoy a variety of athletic events by encouraging adults to take children to collegiate athletic events.

On Saturday at Clarion, all area kids 12 and under will receive free admission to see the Golden Eagles double header against the Red Raiders. Adults are encouraged to accompany the children to the game to have a family experience. The women’s game is at 1pm and the men’s game starts at 3pm.

“We are excited to be part of this promotion while trying to generate excitement with the kids in our community,” said Clarion A.D. Dave Katis. “We want them to come out and have a great day here at Clarion.”

The Golden Eagle women and men’s teams will have big games on Saturday against Shippensburg.

The Raider women are tied for second in the PSAC-West with a 4-3 record, while Clarion is 2-5 in the West. The Golden Eagles of head coach Gie Parsons are led by forward Jessica Albanese (13.4ppg, 6.4 rebs), guard Katrina Greer (12.4ppg) and guard My’Kea Cohill 10.9ppg).

Clarion’s men currently have a 2-5 PSAC-West record while Shippensburg’s men are in second place in the West with a 5-2 mark. Led by head coach Ron Righter, the Golden Eagles are paced on the court by Leon Kennedy (14.8ppg), Josh Yanke (9.9 ppg; 5.2rebs), Justin Collins (7.3ppg) and Bobby Franklin (7.1ppg).
