CLARION’S FRANKLIN RECORDS 300TH CAREER ASSIST
With six assists in Clarion’s 62-60 win at IUP Wednesday night, Golden Eagle senior Bobby Franklin (Pittsburgh/Plum) became the 10th player in school history to record 300 career helpers.
Franklin has 304 career assists and ranks 10th all-time at Clarion in the category. He needs six more helpers to tie the school’s all-time leading scorer Kwame Morton (310 assists) for ninth place and 11 more to tie Vernon King (315) for eighth place.
This season has 81 assists, an average of 3.86 which ranks sixth in the PSAC and fourth in the PSAC-West.
A three-year starter, Franklin has 710 career points and 139 career steals while having a 1.61-to-1 career assists-to-turnover margin. Franklin’s set a career-high with nine assists Jan. 6 vs. East Stroudsburg. He has had five or more assists six times this season.
Franklin is on pace this season to set a career-high for assists in a season. His current high is 90 his sophomore year while helping Clarion to the PSAC-West title. He had 88 last season.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES – Clarion is 8-13 overall and 3-5 in the PSAC-West this season and tied with Lock Haven for fourth place in the PSAC-West with the top four teams advancing to the PSAC Playoffs … The Golden Eagles, who have won 3 of 4, return to action Saturday when they host Shippensburg at 3 p.m. The game is an NCAA sponsored “Take a Kid to the Game” day. All kids 12 and under get in free … The Shippensburg game starts a 4-game homestand for Clarion, who will host PSU-DuBois (7 p.m.) Monday, Lock Haven (8 p.m.) Wednesday and Columbia Union (7 p.m.) Feb. 19 … The Lock Haven game is Student Spirit Night with the first 300 students through the door with a valid ID getting a free T-shirt. Gates open at 5 p.m. for the promotion with the Golden Eagles women’s team hosting Lock Haven at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game.
