GOLDEN EAGLES FALL AT WAYNE STATE
DETROIT – Kris Krzyminski scored 31 points to lead Wayne State to a 72-59 win over visiting Clarion Monday night in non-conference men’s basketball action.
Leon Kennedy paced the Golden Eagles (1-1) with 21 points on 9 of 16 shooting while adding four rebounds and two steals.
Bobby Franklin chipped in with nine points and two rebounds for Clarion, while Ricky Henderson had eight points, seven rebounds, one block and one steal in his season debut. Justin Collins also had eight tallies for the Golden Eagles.
Krzyminski, though, stole the show shooting 12 of 16 from the floor including 6 of 7 from 3-point land. Joe Carr added 11 points and Michael Henderson eight points and seven rebounds.
Wayne State used a 13-2 run in the first half to open up a 29-15 lead late in the half before taking a 37-28 advantage to halftime.
Clarion cut the lead to five points on a couple of different occasions in the second half including 42-37 with 15:48 to play, but Wayne State went on a 9-1 run to open up a 51-38 advantage that eventually got as high as 15 points late in the half.
The Golden Eagles return to action this weekend when they travel to Mansfield (3 p.m. Saturday) and Bloomsburg (3 p.m. Sunday) for PSAC Crossover action.
