at Clarion Golden Eagles (12-13, 3-7)
Text Box: TONIGHT IS THE FINAL HOME GAME OF THE SEASON FOR EAGLES
Tonight is the final home game of the season for the Golden Eagles. Clarion is 8-5 at Tippin Gym this season and 40-12 over the past four years. The Eagles are assured of a fifth straight winning season at home.
GRIMM NOW FIFTH IN A SEASON IN ASSISTS AT CLARION
Sophomore point guard Ashley Grimm passed herself and moved into 5th place in a season in assists at Clarion with 128 this year. Last year she had 125, which now ranks 6th. She became just the second Eagle player to have at least 125 assists in two seasons joining Shelly Respecki (235 in 1991, 235 in 1992) with that distinction. She needs 3 more assists to tie Shannon Coakley for 4th all-time and 14 to tie teammate Melba Melton for third.
Grimm 7th in career assists at Clarion
Grimm is also 7th in school history in assists with 253 and needs just 5 to tie Allison Stodart for 6th place
EAGLES TOPS FROM THE LINE
Clarion is the top free-throw shooting team in the PSAC connecting on 77.0 percent of its shots, which would be a school record if the season ended today. The current team school record for free-throw percentage in a season is 73.5 percent set in the 1995-96 season.
Melton team leader from line at 82.9 percent
Senior Melba Melton leads the Eagles from the line at 82.9 percent, which ranks 3rd in the PSAC. That mark would be the 3rd best in school history behind Shelly Respecki (84.9% in 1992) and Heather Cigich (83.2% in 2002). All told, Clarion has four players in the Top 8 in free-throw percentage in the PSAC. April Gratton (79.4%) is 4th, Katrina Greer (79.0%) is 6th and Jessica Albanese (75.6%) is 8th.
