Text Box: CLARION LOOKING TO START WINNING STREAK
After breaking a 4-game losing streak with a 76-74 win over Lock Haven last Wednesday, Clarion is hoping to win two in a row for the first time since late January when it won 4 in a row. The 4-game losing streak was Clarion’s second 4-game skid this year.
EAGLES NEED WIN TO KEEP PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE
The Golden Eagles need a win tonight to realistically keep their playoff hopes alive. Clarion currently trails fourth place IUP by 1 1/2 games. The top four teams in the PSAC qualify for the postseason. The Golden Eagles have made the PSAC Playoffs a PSAC-Wes leading nine straight seasons including winning PSAC-West titles in 1997, 2000 and 2005, the PSAC Title in 2001 and an NCAA Playoff berth in 2001.
VAUGHNS TIED FOR 13TH IN SCHOOL HISTORY IN SCORING
Sr. guard Terrance Vaughns is now tied for 13th in school history in scoring with 1,248 career points. He is tied with David Shearer (1999-02) and is 67 points behind No. 12 Greg Frist. Vaughns would need to average 16.8 ppg in the final four regular seasons games. He is currently averaging 12.4 ppg.
WITH FOUR ASSISTS, VAUGHNS WILL BECOME 6TH EAGLE WITH 1,200 POINTS, 250 ASSISTS
Vaughns needs four more assists (he currently has 246) to become just the sixth Clarion player to have at least 1,200 career points and 250 career assists. The others are Kwame Morton (2,543 points, 310 assists), Chris Roosevelt (1,588 points, 263 assists), Rollie Smith (1,468 points, 455 assists) Oronn Brown (1,442 points, 631 assists) and Carl Grinage (1,378 points, 534 assists). Smith was the last to accomplish the feat doing so in 2003, Vaughns’ freshman season.
BUCHANAN HAS THREE STRAIGHT DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Chris Buchanan has produced three straight double-doubles, his first three double-doubles of the season.
