RAIDERS LIVING UP TO PRESEASON BILLING
                 The Red Raiders were picked to finish 2nd in the PSAC-West in the coaches’ pre-season poll, and so far they are living up their billing having won 10 of their first 13 games including 10 of the past 12. One of the loses came in a close game (73-57) to NCAA D-I Ohio in mid-December. Defense is the key for Shippensburg. Only three opponents have broken the 70-point margin against the Raiders, while Ship has held eight opponents to 61 or fewer points including five to fewer than 50 points. 
DAVIS PACES DEEP RED RAIDERS SQUAD
                 Jr. guard Chuck Davis is the lone Shippensburg player scoring in double figures averaging 21.4 ppg, the 2nd best mark in the PSAC. But Shippensburg is a deep squad with nine players averaging 10 minutes or more and six averaging at least five points per game. Sophomore Ryan Kraft is the 2nd leading scorer with 8.8 ppg, while Todd Johnson averages 7.2 ppg and a team-best 5.1 rpg. Seth Scott adds 7.8 ppg.

HENDERSON - PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Clarion junior forward Ricky Henderson was named the PSAC-West Player of the Week for the past week after helping the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 mark by averaging 17.3 points, 13.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game.  In an 80-70 win at Kutztown Saturday, he registered 17 points, 13 rebounds, thee blocks and three assists.  Then against West Chester Sunday, a 77-69 loss, he posted 21 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. 
HENDERSON, KENNEDY FORM SOLID DETROIT CONNECTION FOR EAGLES
Henderson teams with junior guard Leon Kennedy to give Clarion a solid Detroit connection. The two-some have played a big role in Clarion winning four of its past five games by combining to average 30.6 ppg and 17.2 rpg during the stretch … Henderson is averaging 16.4 ppg, 11.8 rpg while coming up with 16 blocks since joining the Clarion lineup five games ago. Kennedy during the same stretch is averaging 14.2 ppg and 5.4 rpg and on the season is averaging 14.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg. 
DEFENSE & REBOUNDING HAVE BEEN KEY TO CLARION WINNING 4 OF 5
Defense and rebounding have been the key to Clarion winning four of its past five games after starting the season 2-5. In the first seven games, Clarion was allowing 68.7 ppg while being out rebounded 35.1 rpg to 31.4 rpg. In the past five contests, the Golden Eagles are allowing 59.8 ppg while out rebounding opponents 40.0 rpg to 32.2 rpg. 
CLARION DEFENDING 17-GAME HOME REGULAR-SEASON WIN STREAK
                 Clarion is on a 17-game home regular-season win steak last losing at Tippin Gym in the regular-season Feb. 18, 2004, 60-59 to Slippery Rock. The Eagles did lose to Shippensburg 56-51 at Tippin Gym in the PSAC Playoffs last season.

Text Box: CLARION-SHIPPENSBURG CONTINUE HEALTHY RIVALRY IN 2006 PSAC-WEST OPENER
                 This is the PSAC-West opener for both teams … Clarion is the defending PSAC-West champion and has qualified for the PSAC Playoffs a league leading 9 straight season. The Eagles fell at home to Shippensburg 56-51 in the playoffs last season … The teams have split their last 10 meetings, but Ship has won 5 of the past 8 including 3 straight from 2/2/02-3/01/03 … Last season the teams split in the regular season with Ship winning 61-57 at Ship and Clarion winning 64-57 at Tippin before the Raiders took the series with the win in the playoffs … In the 3 games last season Ryan Wells led Clarion with 13.7 ppg, 10.0 rpg, while Michael Clarke averaged 13.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg in the first 2 games (he missed the playoff game with an injury). Terrance Vaughns scored 10.3 ppg. Chuck Davis led Shippensburg with 19.0 ppg, while Seth Scott had 11.0 pp, 7.0 rpg and Todd Johnson 10.0 ppg.
