Terrance Vaughns, a senior on the Clarion University men’s basketball team, recently set the school record for free-throw percentage in a career. Vaughns (Uniontown/Uniontown) recently concluded a career that saw him connect on 86.6 percent (305 of 352) of his free throws. That bettered the previous mark of 86.1 percent (155 of 180) set by Steve Serwatka from 2001-2002. This season, Vaughns connected on 88 percent (103 of 117) of his free throws this season, the second best mark in school history behind Serwatka’s 91.7 percent (66 of 72) mark in 2002. Vaughns actually connected on 89.9 percent of his charity shots in 2003, his freshman year, but just fell short of the 2.5 made per game to qualify for the leader board. Vaughns also hit 86.2 percent (75 of 87) in 2004 and 82.3 percent (65 of 79) of his freebies in 2005. GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES – Vaughns finished his career 12th in school history in scoring (1,320) tied for 11th in assists (261) … Vaughn’s helped Clarion to a 4-year record of 67-44 including the 2005 PSAC-West Championship … The Golden Eagles finished 13-13 overall and 5-7 in the PSAC-West this year.
