EAGLES HAVE 3RD PSAC-WEST TITLE SINCE ‘97

Clarion won its third PSAC-West title since 1997 this season finishing 8-4 and tied with Edinboro and IUP … Clarion is the No. 1 seed because the Eagles went 3-1 vs. IUP and Edinboro while Edinboro was 2-2 vs. Clarion and IUP and IUP was 1-3 vs. Clarion and Edinboro … The Golden Eagles also won PSAC-West titles in 1997 and 2000 and the PSAC Title in 2001.

CLARION AT HOME IN PSAC’S FOR 7TH TIME SINCE ‘81

Clarion is at home in the PSAC-West for the 7th time since ‘81 & for the first time since ‘00 … Clarion is 4-2 since ‘81 in home playoff games with the last win coming in 1997 (92-51 over Bloomsburg) … The Eagles lost their last home playoff game 73-54 to Slippery Rock Feb. 29, 2000 … Clarion is 13-0 at home this season.

SHIP-CLARION: 2ND MEETING IN PSAC PLAYOFFS

This is the second time Shippensburg and Clarion have met in the PSAC Playoffs … Clarion toppled Shippensburg 97-94 in the quarterfinal round Feb. 28, 1983.

SHIP MAKES FIRST PSAC APPEARANCE SINCE ‘01

Shippensburg is back in the PSAC playoffs for the first time since 2001 and for the 7th time in its history … The Red Raiders are 3-5 in PSAC Playoff action with all three wins coming 1991 when the Red Raiders won the PSAC Title with a 76-75, 2 overtime win over Slippery Rock  … In 2001, the Red Raiders lost 99-81 at Edinboro in their first postseason appearance since the 1991 campaign.

VAUGHNS CLOSING IN ON 1,000 POINTS

Clarion junior guard Terrance Vaughns has 969 career points and needs 31 to reach the 1,000-point plateau … He would be the 25th player in Clarion history to reach the 1,000-point mark.

 

2005 - CLARION VS. SHIPPENSBURG

Clarion and Shippensburg spilt the season series this year with Shippensburg winning 61-57 Jan. 12 at Shippensburg (see attachment) and Clarion winning 64-57 Feb. 7 at Clarion (see attachment).
