CLARION ON 10-GAME HOME WIN STREAK

Clarion has now won 10 in a row at home dating back to last season …. The Golden Eagles are 9-0 at Tippin Gym this year … The last Clarion home loss was a 60-59 defeat to Slippery Rock Feb. 18, 2004 … The 10-game win streak is the longest since a 13-game streak from Dec. 2, 2001, to Nov. 3, 2002 … Clarion is now 103-28 at home since the start of the 1996-97 season … The game with Shippensburg concludes a 4-game home stand for the Eagles, who have two homes games left - Feb. 12 vs. UPJ & Feb. 16 vs. Slippery Rock.

EAGLES LOOKING FOR 9th STRAIGHT 15-WIN SEASON

With one more win, Clarion will have its ninth straight 15-win season and its 26th 15-win season since the 1970-71 season.

A LOOK BACK AT A SUCCESFUL WEEK

Clarion is hoping to repeat last week’s performance when it went 2-0 with exciting wins over IUP and Edinboro … Saturday against IUP, Clarion won 82-78 in double overtime … The Golden Eagles had 3 players with 20 points, marking just the 3rd time since the 99-00 season 3 Eagles have scored 20 or more points … The last time was in a 100-83 win at IUP … The overtime win was Clarion’s 1st OT win since the 2001 PSAC Title game won by the Eagles 80-77 March 3, 2001 … It was Clarion’s first 2 OT game since e 96-95 loss to Cal Feb. 21, 2001, and the first 2 OT win since a 100-94 victory Feb. 9, 2000, over Edinboro … Wednesday’s win over Edinboro was nearly as exciting … Clarion used a game-ending 16-2 run in the final 2:17 to erase an 8-point deficit and get a 72-66 win.  

 

RECENT CLARION-SHIPPENSBURG HISTORY

Shippensburg is looking for the season sweep against Clarion after winning 61-57 Jan. 12 at Shippensburg (see attached box) … The Red Raiders last swept the Golden Eagles two years ago winning 98-96 in Shippensburg and 67-66 at Clarion on a halfcourt shot at the horn … Clarion swept the series last season with the 71-64 win at Clarion breaking a 3-game losing streak to the Red Raiders … Shippensburg has won four of the past six meetings after breaking a 7-game losing streak to Clarion with a 79-74 win Feb. 2, 2002 … Prior to that Clarion had won 9 of 11 … Clarion head coach Ron Righter is 16-17 at Clarion vs. Shippensburg including 11-6 at Tippin Gym … Ship mentor Dave Springer is 4-3 at Shippensburg vs. Clarion.
