GOLDEN EAGLES 9-7 IN HOME PSAC-WEST OPENERS UNDER RIGHTER

·        Clarion is 9-7 in home PSAC-West openers under 17^th year head coach Ron Righter including 6-2 since the 1996-97 season (See attachment) … Clarion lost its PSAC-West home opener a year ago 56-51 to California Jan. 14, 2004 … Clarion has faced Lock Haven once under Righter in a PSAC-West home opener losing 70-67 Jan. 22, 1990.

NOTHING LIKE HOME COOKING

·        The Golden Eagles are glad to be home after a 3-game road trip last week to Shippensburg, Mansfield and East Stroudsburg in a span of five days … The Golden Eagles went 1-2 on the trip and are now 4-5 away from Tippin Gym this season while going 6-0 at Tippin … Clarion is just 5-9 in it last 14 contests away from Tippin dating back to midway through last season … Before that stretch Clarion was 15-8 in its previous 23 contests on the road … While the road as been a bumpy one at times, home cooking has treated the Golden Eagles very well since the 1996-97 season with Clarion going 99-28 (78.0 percent) during that stretch at Tippin Gym.   

WELLS’ 35 POINTS VS. MANSFIELD MOST BY AN EAGLE IN TWO YEARS

·        Ryan Wells’ 35 points in Clarion’s 79-69 win at Mansfield Saturday were the most by a Golden Eagle since Rollie Smith scored 38 in a 90-72 win over Pitt-Johnstown Jan. 18, 2003.

CLARION-LOCK HAVEN SERIES

·        Clarion and Lock Haven have split the season series the past four seasons with three of the past five meetings beginning decided by a total of seven points … Last season each team held home serve with Clarion winning 72-57 at Clarion, and the Bald Eagles taking a 68-57 win at Lock Haven … In the game at Clarion Jan. 28, Ryan Wells had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead Clarion, while Christopher Ruff’s 11 points led Lock Haven … At Lock Haven Feb. 21, the Bald Eagles ran Clarion’s losing streak to seven games thanks to 20 points from Joe Walker, 16 from Eddie Christiano and 15 from James Chappel. Wells had 10 points and nine boards for Clarion, who also got 10 points from Shamar Green.
