CLARION’S WELLS NAMED PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

            Clarion University senior Ryan Wells (Library/South Park) is the PSAC-West men’s basketball “Player of the Week” for the week ending Feb. 5.

            Well was a key figure in Clarion’s 2-0 week, which hoisted the Golden Eagles into a tie for second place in the division. He averaged 24.5 points per game while hitting 62.1 percent (18-29) of his shots in wins over Edinboro and IUP. He also hit all three of his 3-point attempts and added 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.

            His top effort came against the East Region’s No. 1 team, Edinboro, when he had 29 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

            On the season, Wells is leading Clarion in scoring (17.4 ppg) and rebounding (8.5 rpg) while adding 35 assists and 33 steals for the Golden Eagles, who are 14-6 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC-West.

            The Player of the Week award is the second of the season for Wells and the second for Clarion.

            Clarion returns to action Monday (Feb. 7) at home vs. Shippensburg.
