GOLDEN EAGLES’ WELLS NAMED PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Clarion University junior forward Ryan Wells (6-2, 210, Library/South Park) is the PSAC-West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending with games on Jan. 4.
Well averaged 7.5 ppg and 9.0 rpg as Clarion came away with two big wins in PSAC Crossover play against West Chester (57-52) and defending PSAC Champion Millersville (57-47).
In the win over West Chester Saturday, Wells had eight points, six rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes of action. Then on Sunday against Millersville, he added seven points, a team-high 12 rebounds and three more steals in 28 minutes of action. He was also a key competent in helping the Golden Eagles allow just 99 points (49.5 ppg) in the two games combined.
On the season, Wells is averaging a team-high 8.7 rpg while adding 8.2 ppg, 3.1 spg and 2.0 apg.
NOTES – Wells is the son of Clarion Hall of Famer Reggie Wells, Sr., who is second in team history in both scoring (2,011 points) and rebounding (1,120 rebounds). He is also the brother of former Clarion football great Reggie Wells, Jr., who is an currently an offensive tackle with the Arizona Cardinals.
