CLARION’S VAUGHN’S NAMED PSAC-WEST MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK

            Terrance Vaughns (Uniontown/Uniontown), a sophomore guard on the Clarion University men’s basketball team, has been named the PSAC-West men’s basketball Player of the Week for the week ending with games Jan. 11.

            Vaughns helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 week including wins over Penn State-DuBois (111-46), East Stroudsburg (62-53) and Bloomsburg (59-55).

            During the week he shot 55.6 percent (15-27) from the field and 45 percent (9-20) from behind the three-point arc, while snaring 2.3 steals per game. He registered a career-high 22 points vs. East Stroudsburg, 18 points vs. Bloomsburg and 12 points in just 15 minutes vs. PSU-DuBois.

            On the season, Vaughns is averaging 11.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.6 apg and 1.8 spg, while helping Clarion to a 10-2 start, the school’s best since it was 14-1 in 1998-99.

            The Golden Eagles open up PSAC-West play Wednesday when they host California at 8 p.m.
