GOLDEN EAGLES RANKED NINTH IN LATEST NCAA DIVISION II EAST REGION POLL

            The Clarion University men’s basketball team dropped from sixth to ninth in the latest NCAA Division II East Region poll after going 2-1 last week.

            The Golden Eagles (12-4 overall, 2-1 PSAC-West) lost 76-70 last Monday at the University of the District of Columbia before rebounding for two PSAC-West road wins at Slippery Rock (64-58) Wednesday and at IUP (100-83) Saturday.

            Clarion hosts Lock Haven (Wednesday) and Shippensburg (3 p.m. Saturday) in PSAC-West action this week before returning the hardwood Monday against University of the District of Columbia at home.

            All four of the Golden Eagles losses have come against teams ranked in the East Region Top 10 this week including No. 5 California, No. 6 Alderson-Broaddus, No. 8 Cheyney and No. 10 University of the District of Columbia. The Golden Eagles beat No. 3 Mansfield.
