CLARION TO HOST MANSFIELD IN MEN’S AND WOMEN’S PSAC CROSSOVER
The Clarion University men’s and women’s basketball teams welcome Mansfield to Tippin Gym Saturday afternoon for PSAC Crossover games.
The Golden Eagles women enter the game 3-2 overall including 3-0 at Tippin, while the men’s team is 3-1 overall and 2-0 at Tippin.
The Mansfield women enter the weekend at 4-5 overall and were scheduled to play at Edinboro Friday night, while the Mountaineer men were 4-0 going into Friday’s game at Edinboro.
Clarion’s women’s team is coming off an 83-74 loss at Tiffin Thursday. The Golden Eagles are led by two players averaging a double-double. Heather Cigich is scoring 20.4 ppg while adding a team-high 12.4 rpg to go with 2.8 steals per game and 3.0 apg, while Shay Godwin is scoring 14.4 ppg to go with 10.8 rpg. Amelia Harris is adding 17.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 4.2 apg, and Tiffany Peacock is chipping in with 14.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg and 2.8 apg.
Jessica Pfeiffer leads Mansfield scoring 12.1 ppg, while adding 3.6 rpg, while Alison Tagliaferri is contributing 11.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg. Stephanie Rieser is adding 8.1 ppg and 4.0 rpg, and Rachel Rieder scored 8.0 ppg to go with 8.7 rpg.
The Golden Eagles men’s team is coming off a 72-48 win over Penn St.-McKeesport Wednesday. Clarion is led by Michael Clark’s 13.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg, while Justin Collins is adding 11.3 ppg while hitting 40 percent (10-for-25) of his three-pointers. Terrance Vaughns chips in with 10.5 ppg, 3.3 apg, 3.8 rpg and 2.3 spg, and Shamar Green in adding 8.8 ppg and 4.3 rpg. Ryan Wells is scoring 7.0 ppg to go with 8.8 rpg, 2.0 spg and 2.3 apg.
Mansfield is led by UNLV transfer Omari Pearson who is scoring 23.0 ppg while adding 13.8 rpg. Brett Longpree’ contributes 17.8 ppg and 4.5 rpg, while Bill McNeil chips in with 14.5 ppg and 4.3 rpg. Brandon DeShields is adding 8.8 ppg, 3.5 pg and 4.3 apg, and Ian Coonor is scoring 6.5 ppg to go with 5.0 rpg.
Both Clarion teams will return to action after final exams when they hosts Cheyney Dec. 17 and Kutztown Dec. 18 in PSAC Crossover action. Women’s games start at 6 p.m. for both games with the men’s action slated for 8 p.m.
