RECENT CLARION NEWS: Senior guards Rollie Smith was named the PSAC-West Player of the Week this past week after averaging 21.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 5.0 apg Clarion is off to a 10-3 start despite having to replace 74.6% of its scoring and 75.8% of its rebounding from last season and those number do not include points and rebounds put up by Stephen Nesmith, who has yet to play in a game this year, last season When Nesmiths number are added Clarion has had to replace 76% of its scoring and 78.3% of its rebounding from 2001-02 Smith became 6th player in school history to dish out 400 career assists when he had seven in the win over Kutztown Sunday giving him 405 He is the 3rd player in school history to have 1,000 career points and 400 career assists. With 1,167 points he joins Oronn Brown (1,442 pts, 631 assts) and Carl Grinage (1,378 pts, 534 assts) in the 1,000-point, 400-assist club Smith had his first career double-double against Kutztown with 15 points and a career-high 10 rebounds Dereck Rankin had a career-high 25 points in an 84-79 OT loss at Cheyney Saturday, and with 20 points vs. Kutztown. He has now scored 20 or more in three of Clarions last five games Chris Kelley had a career-high 18 rebounds in the win over Kutztown.
