CLARION TO HOST WEST CHESTER & MILLERSVILLE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
The Clarion University men’s and women’s basketball teams will be hosting a PSAC Crossover weekend Friday and Saturday. Friday night West Chester comes calling at Tippin Gym, while Saturday afternoon sees Millersville invading Tippin.
The women’s game starts at 6 p.m. Friday with the men’s game to follow at 8 p.m., while on Saturday the women’s game begins at 1 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 3 p.m.
Heading into Friday’s night’s game, Clarion’s women’s team is 2-1 and coming off an 89-83 overtime win at home against Felician last Saturday.
Sophomore forward Heather Cigich leads Clarion averaging 21.0 ppg and 12.3 rpg, while senior guard Allison Stodart is adding 17.7 ppg, 5.0 apg, 4.0 rpg and 2.7 spg.
As Friday’s game approaches, the Golden Eagle men are 4-0 and off to their best start since the 1991-92 team won 10 straight.
Senior guard Rollie Smith leads the way averaging 21.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 4.7 apg, while freshman forward Shamar Green (11.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg) and freshman guard Terrance Vaughns (11.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg) are having great starts. Senior guard Chris Kelley leads the team with 7.8 rpg while adding 5.3 ppg.
West Chester’s women enter Friday at 3-1 and are led by Carolyn Muldoon (15.3 ppg & 7.3 rpg), while the Golden Ram men are 2-1 and are led by Ramzee Stanton (26.7 ppg & 10.3 rpg).
Both Millersville teams are at Edinboro Friday night.
The Marauder women are 4-1 going into Friday and are led by Morgan Banks (17.8 ppg) and Kristy Garner (12.2 ppg, 8.0 rpg), while the Marauder men are 6-0 going into Friday and are led by Gerald Redding (16.0 ppg) and Toochi Udeinya (13.8 ppg, 7.5 rpg).
After the weekend, Clarion’s women’s team returns to action Dec. 15 at Ashland (3 p.m.), while the men are back in action Dec. 16 at Bloomfield, NJ (7 p.m.).
