GOLDEN EAGLES VAUGHNS NAMED PSAC-WEST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Clarion University freshman guard Terrance Vaughns (Uniontown/Uniontown) is the PSAC-West Rookie of the Week for the week of games ending Jan. 5.
Vaughns had two steady efforts in Clarion’s 2-0 week. He collected 12 points, five rebounds and three assists in an 80-37 win over Davis & Elkins Jan. 2, and 16 points, four rebounds and five assists in an 87-82 win over Mansfield Jan. 5. He helped the Golden Eagles hold Davis & Elkins to the 37 points, which ties the school record for fewest points allowed in a game.
On the season, Vaughns has helped Clarion to a 9-2 start by averaging 11.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 2.7 apg. He is second on the team in scoring, fourth in rebounding and third in assists. He is also shooting 51 percent (26-51) from three-point range and 92.9 percent (26-28) from the free-throw line.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES: Vaughns is the second Clarion player to be named PSAC-West Rookie of the Week this season joining Shamar Green ... Rollie Smith has been named PSAC-West Player of the Week once this year ... The Golden Eagles return to action Saturday at Cheyney and Sunday at Kutztown before opening PSAC-West play at California Jan. 15.
