SHEARER BECOMES FIFTH PLAYER IN CLARION HISTORY WITH 1,200 CAREER POINTS & 700 CAREER REBOUNDS

With 20 points in Clarion University’s 74-60 win over Slippery Rock Wednesday, senior forward David Shearer (Greensburg/Hempfield) became the fifth player in school history to record 1,200 career points and 700 career rebounds.

Shearer, who entered the game with 1,193 points and 758 career rebounds, scored his 1,200th career point on a lay-up with 5:36 left in the first half.

With 13 rebounds in the game, Shearer now has 1,213 career points and 771 career rebounds. He joins Terry Roseto, Reggie Wells Sr., Chris Roosevelt and Jack Derlink as the only players in school history to reach the 1,200 points-700 rebounds mark. He is 13th in school history in points and 7th in rebounds. This season Shearer is averaging 9.2 ppg and 7.6 rpg.

Shearer is the son of Bill Shearer and Lynn Constantine.

Clarion (13-9 overall, 6-4 PSAC-West) is back in action Saturday when it hosts IUP at 8 p.m.
