CLARION SECOND AT WHEELING JESUIT TOURNAMENT
(Moundsville, W.V.): Clarion University’s Golf team rallied with a 287 today to finish tied for second in the Wheeling Jesuit Invitational Golf Tournament held Monday and Tuesday in Moundsville, W.V.
Played at Moundsville Country Club, Millersville won the team scoring with 593, while Clarion and Concord were second with team scores of 595. Thirteen teams played in the event.
The Golden Eagles scored a 308 on Monday and a 287 on Tuesday to post its 595 team score. Its second day team score of 287 was the best of the tournament. Nick Sanner (So. Markleton) shot a 78, 70 - 148 and Preston Mullens (Sr. Emporium/Cameron County) carded a 79, 70 - 149 to lead the way.
Other top Clarion scores were posted by Justin Cameron (Jr. Punxsutawney) 75, 75 - 150, Justin Moose (Sr. N. Huntingdon/Norwin) 79, 72 - 151 and Jared Schmader (Fr. Cooperstown/Maplewood) who fired a 76, 77 - 153.
Clarion will next play at the Westminster Invitational on October 1st.
