Clarion Golfers 9^th In Daytona

            (Daytona Beach, Florida): The Clarion University Men’s Golf team opened 2006 Spring play at the “Bash on the Beach” Tournament hosted by Embry Riddle University at Indigo Lakes Golf Club.

            Brevard Community College won the event with two-day, 54-hole score of 604, while Webber International was second at 609 and Embry Riddle was third at 622. Clarion finished tied for 9^th with Northwood – Texas with a score of 631.

            Clarion had a 314 on Tuesday and a 317 on Wednesday to total 631. Top golfers were Tom Will and Preston Mullens who tied for 19^th place. Will had a 79,78 – 157; while Mullens had a 77, 80 – 157. Also scoring for the Golden Eagles were 27^th place Nick Brucker (78, 71- 159), 34^th place Justin Moose (73, 87 – 160), 54^th place Zach Szwast (86, 78 – 164) and 60^th place Justin Scott (85, 81- 166).

            Clarion, the Fall 2005 PSAC Champions, have already earned an NCAA D-II Regional Berth May 1-3. The Golden Eagles will play in 6 more events prior to the East Regionals. Next action is March 31-April 2 at the Camp LeJeune Invitational.
