Clarion Notes: The Clarion offense returns 9 starters, while the defense only returns 6 in 2007. The offensive will center around sophomore qb Tyler Huether, who passed for 755 yards and 4 td’s, plus ran for 142 yards and 2 td’s as a true freshman. Junior first team PSAC-West tailback Eddie Emmanuel anchors the ground game after rushing for 967 yards and 3 td’s in 2006. Junior tight end Matt Foradora (24 catches, 295 yards, 4 td’s), and senior receiver Pierre Odom (46 grabs, 798 yards, 3 td’s) return as second team PSAC-West selections. Odom has 107 career catches for 1,482 yards & 7 td’s. The “O” line will also be a strength with Mike O’Brien, Mike Melampy and John Kalchthaler all returning as starters. The defense will be anchored up front by All-American def. lineman Jimmy Simmons (70 tackles, 27 tfl’s, 5 sacks), Rich McCune (29 hits, 3 tfl’s), Corey Giles (14 tackles) and Kyle Cathcart (32 jolts, 6 tfl’s). With A-A linebacker Matt Morris, plus Kevin Rigby and Zach Gourley all graduated, the Eagles will look to Josh Rytel (10 hits, 1 int), Jim McHale (24 stops, 3 tfl’s) and Colin McDonough (16 hits, 2 tfl’s) to step forward. Corner Quintyn Brazil (37 jolts, 1 int) and safety Erik Yonish (50 tackles, 2 int’s) expect to bolster the secondary. Clarion second year head coach Jay Foster will have an extremely young team in 2007, but feel the Eagles are on their way back.
