Edinboro Drops Clarion 44-0

            (EDINBORO, PA): Edinboro’s Justin Bouch tossed three touchdown passes and running back Ulysee Davis ran for 147 as the Fighting Scots shut out Clarion on Saturday 44-0.

            Ranked #21 in NCAA Division II, Edinboro raised its overall record to 4-1 and 2-0 in the PSAC-Western Division. Clarion lost its second straight game and dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC-West.

            Played in front of 4,822 at Sox Harrison Stadium, the Edinboro Homecoming Crowd watched Kyle Witucki grab a 14-yard td pass from Bouch as time ran out in the first quarter to give Edinboro a 7-0 lead.

            Edinboro capitalized on a Clarion turnover for its next score. Clarion’s Tyrone Buckner fumbled at the Clarion 11 and Edinboro’s Seth Fragale pounced on the pigskin.

            The Scots scored four plays later when Kelvin Collins bulled over from the 1 and led 13-0 with 9:00 left in the second.

            Edinboro’s Jeff Dinger csored on a 7-yard td pass from Bouch with 2:11 left in the second, and Kody Robertson booted a 20-yard field goal to give the Scots a 23-0 halftime lead. The Scots never looked back from there.

            Clarion’s offense managed only 46 passing yards and -8 rushing yards on the afternoon, while Edinboro rushed for 283 and passed for 278 for a total offense of 561.

            Clarion qb Brandon Dando was 4 of 9 for 40 yards on the day.

            The defense was led by Jordan Hicks and Matt Morris who had 11 tackles each. Morris also accounted for 3 tfl’s on the day, running his season total to 12. Zach Gourley also had 10 stops.

        Freshman punter Nick Perla boomed a 73-yard punt in the second quarter. The punt was the second longest in Clarion history. Phil Bujakowski hit an 86-yarder in 1985 against Westminster. Jim Levy had the second longest punt of 70 yards in 1965.

            Edinboro’s Bouch connected on 8 of 22 passes for 188 yards and 3 td’s. Backup Josh Hinkle was 7 for 7 for 90 yards and 2 td’s, while Davis rushed 22 times for 147 yards. Ryan Valasek caught 3 passes for 84 yards and 1 td.

            Clarion returns home to host East Stroudsburg next Saturday in the annual Homecoming Day Game, which will kickoff at 2pm. Edinboro travels to Cal.
