Lock Haven Downs Clarion 16-13 In Overtime

            (LOCK HAVEN, PA): Lock Haven’s Travis Diehl scored on a 1-yard run in overtime lifting Lock Haven to a 16-13 overtime win against Clarion on Saturday afternoon at Hubert Jack Stadium.

            The LHU Homecoming Day crowd of 1,622 saw the Bald Eagles raise their overall record to 3-5 and 1-2 in the PSAC-West, while Clarion dropped to 3-5 overall and -2 in the PSAC-West.

            Clarion rallied to tie the game in the final seconds of regulation. The Golden Eagles drove 71-yards in 20 plays and capped the drive with an 11-yard td pass from Brandon Dando to Joe Farkas on fourth down with only 20-seconds left in the fourth quarter. Kyle Snoke’s PAT tied the game at 10-10.

            In overtime Clarion had the ball first and drove to a first and goal at the LH 3. Unable to dent the endzone, Snoke came on and booted a 22-yard field goal to give Clarion a 13-10 lead.

            Lock Haven came right back and scored in three plays. After no gain on a first down run at the 25, LH quarterback Tim Storino hit Rafael Smith on a perfect throw for 24-yards to the Clarion 1. On the next play fullback Travis Diehl hit the endzone for the game-winning score.

            The game was scoreless at halftime. Clarion took the game’s first lead on a Kyle Snoke 28-yard field goal with 4:45 left in the third quarter and the Golden Eagles led 3-0.

            Lock Haven’s Danny Hagerman booted a 28-yard field goal with 13:39 left in the fourth quarter to tie the game 3-3.

            The Bald Eagles went ahead 10-3 with 8:13 left in regulation when Maurice Walker scampered 23-yards for a touchdown. The drive traveled 72-yards in 7 plays.

            Clarion totaled only 215 yards of offense on the day, including 106 rushing and 109 passing. Marcus Lowe rushed 15 times for 46 yards and caught 4 passes for 28 yards. Dando completed 16 of 33 passes for 109 yards and 1 td, while rushing for 33 yards on 12 tries. Wide receiver Joe Farkas caught 3 passes for 26 yards and 1 td.

            Clarion’s defense was led by Bo Busch and Dwaon Woodard who had 8 tackles each, and Zach Gourley who had 7 stops and 3 tfl’s.

            Lock Haven had 385 yards of offense including 170 rushing and 215 passing. QB Tim Storino completed 12 of 34 passes for 215 yards, and rushed for 16 yards. Tailback Maurice Walker rushed 25 times for 103 yards and 1 td, while Adam Lawrence grabbed 5 aerials for 102 yards.
