CLARION’S GERSTEL NAMED PSAC-WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK

            For the second straight week, Clarion University’s Josh Gerstel (Verona/Butler) is the PSAC-West Pitcher of the Week.

            Gerstel earned the award after a phenomenal effort in Clarion’s 4-1, 15-inning win over Lock Haven Friday. Gerstel worked all 15 innings to pick up the win allowing one unearned run on just six hits while striking out 10. He added to a near perfect week by pitching an inning of scoreless relief against Mansfield April 20.

            On the season, Gerstel went 4-4 with one save and a 4.15 ERA in 11 games, eight of them starts. He pitched five complete games and 69 1/3 innings. He struck out 60 and walked just 16.

            Clarion finished the season 18-29 overall and 5-15 in the PSAC-West.
