THREE EAGLES EARN PSAC-WEST BASEBALL HONORS
GEREMY HOOVER NAMED TO FIRST-TEAM
Led by PSAC-West first-team selection Geremy Hoover (Jr. Catcher - Clearfield/ Philipsburg-Osceola), Clarion University’s baseball team placed three players on the 2002 PSAC-West Baseball Team. Joining Hoover were two second-team selections in outfielder Adam Allshouse (Brookville/Brookville) and utility player Ricky Cruz (Erie/Cathedral Prep).
Clarion, under the direction of third-year head coach Scott Feldman, finished the season 7-35 and 3-17 in the PSAC-West.
Hoover, a junior transfer from Cleveland St., led Clarion in home runs with five and RBI’s with 27 while hitting .256. In PSAC-West play he batted .262 with three home runs and 16 RBI’s. He added six doubles and a triple and had a slugging percentage of .440.
Allshouse, a sophomore who moved from catcher to outfielder this season, was third on the team in hitting with a .331 average to go along with one home run and three RBI’s. Allshouse was the Golden Eagles top hitter during PSAC-West play hitting .443 with one home run and 20 RBI’s. He also had six doubles.
In two years at Clarion, Allshouse has hit .352 (63-179) with three home runs and 36 RBI’s.
Cruz, a junior transfer from Mercyhurst NE who played second base, third base, outfield and designated hitter for Clarion this season, hit .268 with 16 RBI’s. He led the team with 15 stolen base in 19 attempts a success rate of 78.9 percent. During PSAC-West play he hit .271 with seven RBI’s and six stolen bases.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES: Nate Seegers was the last Golden Eagle to earn all-conference honors gaining second-team All-PSAC-West last season as an outfielder.
