Removing Advisement Holds for First Year Students

An advisor hold has been placed on the records of first-year, Clarion Campus, degree-seeking students (including transfers). The hold will prevent any further registration activity until they meet with their advisor and have the hold removed.  These students will receive a letter from their college dean informing them of the hold, their assigned advisor’s name and campus address.

Faculty advisors, department chairpersons, college deans and support staff in these offices have access to remove the advisement hold using screen 148 in the Student Information System or faculty may remove the advisor hold through their iClarion portal.  Instructions for both processes are summarized below:

Removing advisor holds using SIS  -   screen 148

Log into your SIS account (if you need assistance, contact your department secretary or the Computing Services Help Desk).

·         Type 148 in the SCREEN field and the student's Clarion ID number in the SID field and press enter

·         Remove the ADVISOR HOLD by positioning the cursor on the line below the DEL field (far right side of the screen beside the date) using the tab or arrow key, type a D and press ENTER

The ADVISOR HOLD may be identified by values of

“R” for Type
            “93” for Reason
“Advisor – 1st year student required to see advisor”

The student may have multiple holds for other reasons so it may be necessary to press ENTER several times to advance to the page containing the advisor hold.

Once this process is completed, the advisor hold has been removed from the student’s record and should no longer appear on the screen.
