Poet Sheila Carter-Jones presents work at Clarion University

Clarion University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Committee and English department will present poet Sheila Carter-Jones at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 in Moore Hall.

Carter-Jones is the author of "Three Birds Deep," winner of the 2012 Naomi Long Madgett Poetry Book Award, and chapbook "Blackberry Cobbler Song." Her chapbook "Crooked Star Dream Book" was awarded Honorable Mention for the 2013 New York Center for Book Arts Chapbook Contest.

Carter-Jones has taught in Pittsburgh Public Schools and in the education departments of Chatham University and University of Pittsburgh. She holds a bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University and both master's and doctorate degrees from University of Pittsburgh.

Her presentation is free and open to the public.
