Clarion SBDC presents ‘Mental Health in the Workplace’

August 8, 2019

Clarion University Small Business Development Center will present “Mental Health in the Workplace” from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 29 at the SBDC offices in the Gregory Barnes Center at 330 North Point Drive, Suite 100, Clarion.

Angela Shirey, LCSW, will be the speaker. Many employers are starting to play attention to the mental health of their employees. At least one in five adults suffers from a diagnosable mental health issue, and employers lose over $44 billion a year in lost productivity to depression alone.

This workshop will guide participants in addressing mental health issues in the workplace, as well as in creating a culture that supports the emotional health and well being of employees. A healthy and productive workforce is directly related to a healthy and vital business.

Participants will:

  • Increase awareness on the signs of mental health issues in the workplace;
  • Learn tips for talking to employees;
  • Learn rights and responsibilities of employers;
  • Learn tips for creating a proactive internal mental health awareness campaign.

Cost of the workshop is $20, payable in advance by check, money order or credit card. Send checks payable to "Clarion University of Pennsylvania" to: Attention: Training Coordinator, 330 North Point Drive, Suite 100, Clarion PA 16214-3873. To pay by credit card, call Clarion University SBDC at 877-292-1843 or 814-393-2060.
