10 Things to Know this Week: April 1

Watch for ‘10 Things to Know this Week’ every Monday during the spring and fall semesters. The list of events and opportunities is compiled through submissions to www.clarion.edu/coverage. To be included, items must be pertinent to all students.

Dr. Dale's inauguration is Friday!
April 5, 1:30 p.m., Marwick-Boyd auditorium
The university community is invited to the inauguration of Dr. Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson as Clarion University's 17th president. Those attending are requested to be in their seats by 1:15 p.m.; the ceremony is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. A public celebration will follow at 3 p.m. in Carlson Library, Level A. Shuttle service between locations will be available.

Show your brain power at trivia night
April 2, 7 p.m., The Den
Clarion Dining will host Trivia Night at The Den. Bring your team of two to six members; teams get half-price appetizers and free drinks. There will be a grand prize raffle.

'On the Basis of Sex,' 'The Mule,' "Bumblebee' are this week's Movie on Main
April 4-7, Suites on Main North Theater
Movies on Main runs Thursday through Sunday and features a concession stand with a variety of traditional theater food. Check website for show times. Free for students with ID, $4 for adults.

Reserve red heels, and 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes'
Reservation deadline April 5; walk April 10
V-Day and PASSAGES' annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, the men's march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence, starts at 5 p.m. April 10. The walk begins and ends at Gemmell Student Center. Men are encouraged to walk in red heels; reserve by April 5 by calling 814-226-7273. Women are asked to support the men by wearing a white shirt. Click here for more.

EFSN hosts Game Night, Fashion Show
April 5-6, 8 p.m., Gemmell
EFSN offers fun and exciting programs and events for Clarion University students in the Gemmell Student Complex every Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m.

Turtle Trot 5k benefits Emily Schena Scholarship
April 6, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Memorial Stadium
Delta Zeta's Turtle Trot 5k welcomes walkers and runners. There will be raffle baskets, snacks and giveaways. Register at http://getmeregistered.com/DeltaZetaTurtleTrot by April 5 for $20, or at the event for $25. The race begins at 9 a.m.

Join CU Day of Service, get free food, prizes and joy
April 6, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting at Gemmell
ABLE and NSSHLA invite all to join in serving the community. Sign up on CU Connect; check in will be 9 to 9:30 a.m., which is when participants will receive a free T-shirt and breakfast. Participants do service from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., then return for a free lunch until 2 p.m. Stay for lunch to be entered in a raffle to win a speaker.

Dig It with DZ volleyball tournament supports hearing foundation
April 7, 10 a.m., Student Rec Center
The sisters of Delta Zeta will host a volleyball tournament in support of its national philanthropy, The Starkey Hearing Foundation. Teams of 6-8 players pay a fee of $3 per player; winning team receives a prize. Registration by April 5 is recommended by emailing Elise, or register at the tournament.

Reinhard for $35/week this summer? Whaaaat?
Clarion University will offer summer sessions with a special housing deal for students who want to get ahead, catch up or make up classes. Summer Sessions will run May 6-23, June 3 to July 5, and July 8 to Aug. 8. Additional seven-week sessions will run May 6 to June 21 and June 24 to Aug. 9. During those sessions, students can live at Reinhard Villages for $35/week. Learn more.
